Agona West MCE promises to create opportunity for jobs

The Municipal Chief Executive for Agona West, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, has said that an aggressive agenda is being pursued to create job opportunities to help reduce unemployment facing the youth.

She said she would work extra hard to support President Nana Akufo-Addo-led government to implement policies such as planting for food and jobs and 'One District One Factory'.

According to the MCE, the Government would ensure that all promises made during the campaign period in 2016 would be fulfilled.

Mrs. Assan made this known when she interacted with media practitioners in Agona West to declare her vision and commitment to promoting quality living standards for the people at Swedru.

She said as the political head of the Assembly, everything possible would be done to ensure that social interventions were rolled out to alleviate the suffering of the citizenry.

The MCE said one million dollars for all 275 constituencies were part of the measures put in place by President Nana Akufo-Addo to solve unemployment issues currently confronting young graduates in the country.

She stated that another priority which her administration would pursue vigorously was to support the development of girl-child education in the Municipality.

The MCE expressed concern about the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy cases among school girls in the area and pledged her determination to fight the menace.

Mrs. Assan said it was sad to observe that every year pregnancies were recorded in all the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers and asked stakeholders in education to help reverse the trend.

She disclosed that a site has been prepared for construction work to commence for an E-Library in the Municipality to enhance quality teaching and learning.
On sanitation, the MCE expressed disgust about the poor handling of waste management and cautioned that her administration would not countenance the problem.

She called for the rebranding of Agona West Municipality to become a better place to live, adding that President Nana Akufo-Addo government is determined to improve infrastructural development to enhance the quality living standards of the people.

The MCE gave the assurance that she was determined to build a good relationship with Media in the Agona West and beyond, adding that the Assembly was every ready to accept criticisms from the media and individuals but cautioned that it must be constructive.

She stated that all ongoing projects which were started by the previous government would be completed but it would be scrutinized to ensure value for money.
