Items including bags of rice, cooking oil, exercise books, pens and some second-hand clothing were given to the flood victims.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Abraham Kwame Antwi, said he was touched by the plight of inhabitants of the area following the recent downpour, adding that, it is disheartening to be displaced by floods in the very homes one looks forward to returning to after a hard day’s work.

He said the Assembly, craves attention from visitors for recreational or business purposes but not disasters and other grievous situations and assured affected residents of its commitment to ensuring an all-inclusive development so that every community in the municipality would be equitably developed.

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Charles Atta-Mensah also said, plans are far advanced to dredge all drains in the municipality to avoid similar unforeseen disasters in the area.

The Assembly member for Oforikrom East, Mr. John Nketia, thanked the Assembly for the quick response and their support.

He highlighted the major concerns of the area’s poor drainage and bad roads, and appealed to the Assembly to re-construct a broken culvert which has become a death trap in the area.
