Dan Botwe visits Oforikrom

Mr. Daniel Botwe, Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development (MLGRD) has challenged the entire staff of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly to work to satisfy the aspirations and needs of the people they represent.

He added that this could be achieved not only through the development of physical projects which undoubtedly is one of the benefits as a new assembly, however through an improved service delivery as duty bearers, to better the lives of the people.

He made this call when he and his team visited the Assembly on Monday, 23rd January, 2023 as part of their meeting with the academia at KNUST to interact and share ideas on national issues.

Addressing the Management and Staff of the Assembly, and Assembly Members at a mini durbar, the Minister spoke on the delay of the new Assembly edifice and expressed worry as to why the facility has not yet been completed. He assured that, he will visit the site to ascertain the progress of the office and see the way forward.

He again called on the staff to be guided by the tenants of their code of conduct and rally along government’s vision to complement government’s efforts to developing the municipal and the country as a whole.

The Head of Local Government Service, Nana Ato Arthur commended the Assembly for their tremendous effort to seeing the newly created assembly see its fruition and the vision with which it was created. “It is very important that as staff we remain professionals as ever and the positive attitude put forth by the entire assembly body is a sign that the Assembly understands development and this is highly commendable. Recently what we heard about this place wasn’t the best but I am happy that the MCE talked about putting systems in place to improve upon your service delivery.” He said.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abraham Antwi was grateful to the Minister for the timely visit and words of encouragement. He on behalf on his team promised to remain focused and put to use all the advice given in managing the government flagship programmes, to the benefit of the people in the municipality.
