Madam Efua Asomaning, the District Electoral officer who supervised the election in accordance to the standing orders declared no winner in the two-time elections held the same day.
Asked if the failure of members to elect a presiding member had implications on the assembly, the Hon. Nuhu Mohammed who is a 2nd-term Assembly Member of the Abensu Electoral Area indicated that "yes, it has implications on some activities of the running of the assembly.
However, the Coordinating Director would act temporarily with extremely limited responsibilities in that capacity until we elect one".
He stated that their failure to elect a Presiding Member "is the choice of majority of the Assembly Members, and it is democracy that has won". Hon. Nuhu Mohammed was however hopeful that in the next sitting, there would emerge a new presiding member.
In accordance with Section 17 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), and reference to the Standing Orders of District Assemblies, a fresh election shall be held within ten days to elect a new presiding member.
