Ga North supports PWDs with items, cash

About forty-one persons with disability were presented a number of items and cash amount by the Ga North Municipal Assembly at the Assembly premises.

The items included Deep Freezers, Blending Machine, Wheel Chairs, Knitting and Grinding Machines etc.

Amongst the beneficiaries were Kezia Morkporkpor Sistofie, Solomon Boakye and Charlotte Sarbi.

The Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD), Alhaji Haruna A. Salam, disclosed that, the monies used in the purchase of the items and presented to the persons with disability was from the 3% of the Assembly Common Fund allocated to take care of Persons with Disability as required by law.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Simons Sekyim Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com indicated that, no child should be seen begging by the road side and urged parents to show love to children with disability by providing them with good food and quality education.

The Municipal Officer of Social Welfare and Community Development, Madam Phyllis Kama -Kisseh on her part urged beneficiaries to use the items for its intended purpose.

The National Council for Persons with Disability Mr. Hayford, thanked the Common Fund Committee and indicated that beneficiaries would be monitored from time to time to make sure items presented are used for the said purpose.

The beneficiaries were also given training in basic book keeping and financial management.
