Ga North Apprentices Benefit from NYA Support

The National Youth Authority (NYA) office of the Ga North Municipal Assembly has distributed tools and equipment to apprentices and master craft persons under the National Youth Apprenticeship Programme.

The presentation, held at the Assembly Hall of the Ga North Municipal Assembly, brought together the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Akwetey Agbo; the Presiding Member, Hon. Dennis Daniel Quarshie; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph K. Armah; the Greater Accra Regional NYA Coordinator, Mr. Jones Klutse; the Municipal NYA Coordinator, Mr. Eric Afeme; as well as apprentices, master craft persons and staff of the Assembly.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Agbo said the government was fulfilling its commitment to support youth skills development through the National Youth Apprenticeship Programme. He noted that beneficiaries receive training fees, stipends, tools and equipment to enable them to complete their apprenticeship successfully.

He urged the apprentices to remain committed to their training, stressing that acquiring employable skills is essential to tackling youth unemployment and improving livelihoods.

Mr. Joseph K. Armah also encouraged the trainees to take full advantage of the programme by dedicating themselves to learning and developing their vocational skills.

The Greater Accra Regional NYA Coordinator, Mr. Jones Klutse, described the apprenticeship programme as one of the government's flagship initiatives aimed at reducing unemployment and closing the skills gap among young people. He announced that similar distributions would be undertaken across the country and assured beneficiaries that additional equipment would be supplied when available.

The event ended with the presentation of tools and equipment, including manual and industrial sewing machines, by the MCE to apprentices and master craft persons to support their training and future businesses.
