Bosome Freho Marks 60th Independence Day at Asiwa

A parade of 360 school children and students and the Bosome Freho Senior High school Cadet and voluntary organizations marked the district celebration of Ghana’s 60th Independence Day celebration, held at the district capital Asiwa

The colour parade was mounted by 360 neatly dressed students from basic and senior schools within the Bosome Freho district, thrilled the large crowd with their marching skills – drawing prolonged applause.


 
The District Coordinating Director Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo, the District Police commander DSP Albert Odei-Quansah and the District Director of GES Mrs. Georgina Enyan took the salute to mark the day, which was on the theme: “Mobilizing for Ghana’s Future”.

 

Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo the District Coordinating Director read the President’s address, asking all to combine their effort to protect the environment.

 

He said “We have a bright future and we must mobilize all our resources and all our strengths, here and in the Ghanaian Diaspora to get to that Promised Land faster.”


 
He complained about the state of the country’s environment saying “There is nothing we can do better to pay homage to those who fought to free us from bondage than to dedicate this 60th Independence anniversary to protecting our environment and regenerating the lands and water bodies.”   

 

The District Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service awarded Master Calab Danquah and Miss Emmanuella Appiah for becoming the best students in the Basic Education certificate examination 2016 (BECE). They took home Gh?500: 00 each and a certificate.


 
The best school in the BECE in the district went to Nsuta D/A JHS who took home a desk top computer and a certificate.    
Schools were rewarded with prizes for their performance in the march past.
