They have also been asked to live a responsible lifestyle in order to avoid teenage pregnancy which could go a long way to jeopardize their future.

In a speech delivered by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Dawuda Mohammed, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw at this year’s ‘International Day of the Girl Child’, the MCE urged the girls to desist from any act of behavior or attitude that could cut-short their bright future.

He rather urged them to cultivate the habit of taking some well-to-do and educated women in our society as their role models in order to emulate them in the near future.

Touching on the essence of the free senior high school policy, the MCE added that the introduction of the Free SHS by the Akufo-Addo government is to ensure that all girls and boys alike could have equal opportunities to attend SHS without financial barriers.

Meanwhile, this year’s celebration which was under the theme: “Girl’s Vision for the Future” began with thrilling activities such as drama, poem recitals and float through the principal streets of Newlongoro, a community in the municipality, bringing together girls from different schools to participate in this all-important and educative programme.

The organizers also distributed sanitary pads, books and cash were also donated to schools and coordinators who organized the programme.
