Nanumba South marks 61 Independence Anniversary
The District Chief Executive for the Nanumba South District, Natogmah Ibrahim Mukaila on behalf of H/E the president of the Republic of Ghana: Nana Akuffo Addo presented the nation anniversary address on the occasion of the 61st Independence Day celebration of Ghana.

The DCE after extending the warm greetings and salutations of the President to the well-attended occasion including the paramount chief of the area: Nana Alhaji Salifu Wumbei, reported of how much the president acknowledges and appreciates the diverse unity of the nation, the beautiful culture and hospitality acknowledged across the globe.
He however bemoaned the fact that successive passed governments did not do enough to effectively protect the public purse to put the country on the path of effective growth and development. This according to him is the basic reason for the president's ' Ghana Beyond Aid Agender'.
The creation of the Special prosecutor's office, the program to digitize Ghana and the soon to constitutionally validate ' Access to Information Bill, are just but few of the efforts of the President to effectively fight corruption which in the wisdom of the President is the surest direction to lead Ghana to the promised land.
The Hon. DCE reported of how worried the president was especially regarding the current spate of reported cases of armed robbery. The Government tall list of programs and policies will derail if the security of the nation was not brought under control.
According to him, this situation provoked the present's ' Retooling ' of the police service exercise to well equip the police to effectively combat the criminal elements in the society to ensure the peace and security of the country.
He however maintained that it will require the support and cooperation of all Ghanaians to succeed in this regard. He respectfully thanked and acknowledged all those whose efforts in however small way contributed to the success of the occasion.
Unlike the celebrations gone by, this year's own was outstanding for reason that there were special awards and donation.
On behalf of the Hon. Member of Parliament for the area: Mr. Thomas Donkor Ogaja, the DCE presented four (4) motor bikes to the District Director of education to support especially their supervisory activities.
A mathematics teacher from Lungni Morning Star JHS: Mr. Ampedu Eric was awarded with a double decker fridge for emerging as the District best teacher for the 2016/2017 academic year. Madam Alima Amadu, a science teacher at Nakpayili JHS took a table top fridge for placing second best.
The best performed School (BECE): D/A JHS block 'A' was awarded with plastic chairs. Pupils who distinguished themselves in academics or inter-district athletics competition were awarded with Tex books and other materials.
