Dormaa West Assembly donates to PWDS
The Dormaa West District Assembly has presented some valuable items to some Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district to enable them to become self-reliant.

They took home items such as fridges, industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, knapsack sprayers, motorized sprayers, chest freezers, computers among others.
Some PWDs also received cheques as seed capital to enable them to start their own businesses.
The move is in fulfillment of sustainable development goal 8.5, which seeks to achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.
Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong in his speech thanked President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the local government ministry for releasing funds to support PWDs.
He seized the opportunity to outline the government's intention to develop the Dormaa West District.
He touched on the government’s planting for food and jobs and the one district one factory initiatives which are very crucial to improving the standards of living of the Ghanaian citizenry.
He also applauded the government for the massive road construction throughout the country which the district is also benefiting from.
Addressing issues on persons with disabilities, he said the government has increased the amount to be given to the disabled persons from 2% to 3%.
He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling what has been given them by the Assembly for whatsoever reasons.
He encouraged persons with disabilities to be entrepreneurial in their day to day activities in order to keep up with the pace of development in the district and the country as a whole.
Madam Felicia Wiafe, a beneficiary thanked the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo- Addo and the District Chief Executive for their immense support to persons with disabilities.
She also tasked her colleague beneficiaries to make good use of the items received and also encouraged them to engage themselves in businesses that will generate income to help improve their livelihoods.
