MoI on organizes town hall meeting in Nadowli-Kaleo district

The Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly has held it second edition of town hall meeting organized by the Ministry of Information (MoI) on Tuesday, 13th November, 2018 at the district health management team conference hall in Nadowli.

A town hall meeting is an event hosted by government officials and duty bearers to help establish a sense of communication between the government and its constituents in the country.

In her welcome remarks, the DCE for Nadowli-Kaleo Katherine T. Lankono indicated that the engagement is part of Government’s effort of deepening participatory democracy and offering opportunities and accountability to their citizens at the district level, as well as soliciting feedback from the citizens on the impact of government policies and programmes.

The DCE indicated that, the NPP government is committed to delivering on its flagship programmes and projects as promised in their 2016 manifesto.

Under security, Madam Katherine, indicated that over the period, the district has not experience any major security threat that has the potential of destabilizing the peace of the area, she said the police are in control of the situation to ensure that such unpleasant scenes do not happen in the district.

Under transportation and Accountable governance, Madam Katherine said the district is operating a very transparent and accountable administration, she enumerated that Internally Generated Funds are recorded on a designated score board on weekly bases, she called on NGOs and CSOs to feel free to contact the district Assembly for any engagement that has the potential of creating jobs and liberating the vulnerable from their present circumstance.

On planting for food and jobs, the DCE indicated the district assembly has received a major boost from the Government on the implementation of the planting for food and jobs programme and improved varieties of seeds and fertilizer which have been supplied to farmers to enable them improve crop production. She also reported that, the district has taking delivery of 1 NO. Brand new pick-up to facilitate the operations of the district Agric Department.

She also reported that through the collaborating between the Assembly and the Education Directorate, the education sector has received massive attention, ‘under the Basic School Structures Project of the ministry of Education, the District can boost of 2 No.2-unit kindergarten block with dining hall at Meguo and Duong communities’.Sankana Model Girls School has also received 100 No.mono desks and furniture for teachers to improve upon some of the challenges of the school.

On development projects and programmes, the DCE reported that a construction of new fire service station with ancillary and facilities and water hydrant is at advance stage of completion, construction of 1No.bedroom semi-detached quarters also at advanced stage of completion, construction of 1 No.district magistrate court, rehabilitation of 1 No.Agricultural Extention service staff quarters at Charikpong is completed and in use, opening of 31km new feeder roads in the district linking communities to others already in use by the various communities ,rehabilitation of police post at Takpo and furnishing of CHPS compound with office furniture, beds and mattresses at Meguo,Biire and Kpagadinga all in the district .

Madam Katherine, mentioned that stapes are been taking to connect the following communities to the national grid,Cherikpong,Yiziiri,Kaluri,Janguasi,Kanyinguasi and Pennitobo.
