Tarkwa- Nsuaem celebrates 63rd Independence Anniversary

The 63rd Independence Day Anniversary Parade in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region was held at the Tarkwa Senior High School Park under the theme, "Consolidating Our Gains".

People from all walks of life including Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Assembly Members, Heads of Departments of Public and Private Organizations, Party Supporters drawn from both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), School Children, Teachers as well as other key stakeholders converged at the school park to participate in the celebration.

It was formed by a contingent of One Thousand, Five Hundred Personnel comprising Eight Cadet Groups from the Senior High Schools, Pupils from the Basic Schools, Students from Senior High Schools, 89 Teachers, 3 Regimental Bands, and a Cultural Troupe from the UMaT Basic School.

The Parade was under the command of Senior Chief Officer Peterkin Kwarshie Amegashie of the Ghana Prison Service with the MCE for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, Hon. Gilbert Kennedy Asmah as the Reviewing Officer. Among the dignitaries present were Traditional Rulers, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Isaac Kwakye, Heads of the Security Agencies including the Tarkwa Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Dennis Abade, the Municipal Police Commander, Supt. Thomas Osei-Ababio, Tarkwa Prisons Commander, ACP Ali Ababio, the Immigration Commander, Superintendent Kweku Lindsey and the Municipal Commander for the Ghana National Fire Service, DO III Alex Asiam. Also present was the Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency - Hon. George Mireku Duker to grace the occasion.

The Tarkwa District Police Commander, Supt. Thomas Osei Ababio joined the MCE to take the salute.

Addressing the parade, the Municipal Chief Executive (Gilbert Kennedy Asmah) called for unity and hard work in order to sustain ongoing development initiatives for the benefit of all. He also used the occasion to enumerate a number of key Projects and Policies the Assembly has embarked on in the area of infrastructure and social development.

A citation was presented to SCO/Mr. Peterkin Kwarshie Amegashie for his dedicated service and hard work as the Parade Commander for Independence Day Anniversary Celebrations in the Municipality since 2003. Deserving Schools, School Children, and Pupils in the Municipality were also given various awards and Prizes.
