Regional Minister engages Coordinating Directors in Greater Kumasi on faulty streetlights

The meeting, which formed part of his strategic engagements with key stakeholders after taking office as the new Regional Minister, also deliberated on sanitation in the various municipalities and districts making up the Greater Kumasi Area.
Key issues discussed during the meeting therefore bothered on assessment of the state of streetlights and sanitation situations within the jurisdictions of the Coordinating Directors
The goal was to identify key challenges accounting for poor lighting of streets, and communities as well as sanitation and map out strategies to implement interventions to address them accordingly.
The Directors presented situational reports in their respective districts to enable the Regional Coordinating Council to take concrete steps to tackle them.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasised the importance of taking swift action to either repair or replace faulty streetlights to improve security and visibility particularly in high-traffic and densely populated areas.
On sanitation, the Minister stressed the need to channel resources to waste management to keep the environment clean in the face of cholera outbreak in parts of the country.
He pledged his commitment to improve sanitation across the region as the Regional Minister and urged the Directors and other stakeholders to put their shoulders to the wheel in achieving that objective.
To this end, he underscored the need to adopt effective strategies to deal with waste disposal while ensuring strict enforcement of sanctions against persons who flout laws governing the environment.
