KMA Unveils Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) for 2026-2029

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has officially launched its Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) for 2026–2029.

This comprehensive four-year roadmap is designed to accelerate growth and significantly improve service delivery across the metropolis.

The launch event convened key stakeholders, including Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, and Unit Committee Members, to collaboratively shape the city's development priorities.

Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, the Metro Coordinating Director, opened the session by underscoring the MTDP's crucial role as a strategic guide for budgeting and implementing projects that directly address the needs of Kumasi residents.

Mr. Charles Kwesi Adjei, who presented the plan, commenced with a review of the previous 2022–2025 plan. He highlighted the successful initiation of several ongoing projects under that plan, demonstrating KMA's commitment to continuity and tangible progress.

The newly unveiled 2026–2029 MTDP identifies ten priority areas, derived from thorough needs assessments conducted across the twelve town councils. These key focus areas are Security,education, roads, toilet facilities, markets, sanitation and waste management, employment, school Infrastructure, water, sub-structures

Attendees unanimously endorsed these priorities, emphasizing the need for immediate and sustained action to realize these critical development goals for the benefit of the entire Kumasi metropolis.
