Gomoa East District marks 62 Independence Day Anniversary

The people of Potsin in the Gomoa East held its Independence Day anniversary celebration which marks 62 years of gaining freedom and independence from the British colonial masters.

The Chief Executive of the Assembly, Solomon Darko – Quarm used the occasion to charge the communities to strive hard in their individual duties and roles in the public and civil service as well as in business adding that, those that do exceptionally well in their chosen fields will never be forgotten by society.


He also cautioned students against drug abuse and unwarranted demonstrations and destruction of school property at the least provocation stressing that “being youth is not tantamount to hooliganism”.


He further said, since the theme for this year’s independence anniversary celebration is “Celebrating Peace and Unity”, to have a peaceful and united force, the district needs a professional police service with the cooperation of all.


The DCE said it behooves on all and sundry to accord the Police with the maximum respect to carry out its mandate of ensuring peace and order for effective and efficient governance system.


He expressed appreciation to stakeholders in education in the district including circuit supervisors, head teachers, teachers and students for their smart turn-out and participation in the celebration.
