The community was the worst hit by the recent floods when the River Birim broke its banks resulting in flooding of parts of the Zongo and other areas at Kade and Adankrono.

Several houses collapsed and many people were rendered homeless.

Speaking to a cross-section of the Zongo community at Kade, Mr Osae assured the people that apart from the assistance received from the

National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), further assistance would soon be forth coming following a promise by a number of international organizations to send relief items.

Mr. Osae named some of the organizations as World Food Programme (WFF), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

He said the assistance would be distributed only to the flood victims on non-partisan basis.

Mr Osae warned against doing politics with the floods, explaining that there had been complaints that the rice received from the government through NADMO was of poor quality as compared to that distributed by the Member of Parliament for Kade, Mr. Ofosu Asamoah, to the Zongo community.

He said the NADMO rice, though produced locally and was not as white as the imported rice, was of high quality and very nutritious.
