Atwima-Nwabiagya inter-party dialogue committee inaugurated

A 25-member inter-party dialogue committee, formed to ensure peace in the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections in the Atwima-Nwabiagya constituency, has been inaugurated at Nkawie in Ashanti.

Members of the committee include representatives of the various political parties, traditional rulers, religious, youth and women groups, the

Electoral Commission, the media as well as security agencies.

Mr Cosmos Dzansi, the District Director of Education, who inaugurated the committee, asked the members to work hard to ensure peaceful elections.

Mr E.K Antwi, the District Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), noted that the uninterrupted democratic practice in the country over the last two decades had won the country international admiration and made it a beacon of hope in Africa.

Mr Antwi called on the committee to educate the public on the need for Ghanaians to deepen uphold democratic principles of tolerance, avoidance of intemperate and inflammatory language and ethnocentrism.

Nana Asare Bediako, the District Chief Executive, said Ghana the committee to identify causes of electoral conflicts and initiate measures to avert them.
