There cannot be any better time to commission the newly built Nchumuruman Community Day Senior High School at Chinderi in the Krachi Nchumuru following the immediate relieve it has brought to students in the district.
The overwhelming patronage of the community senior high school established by the community to fill the gap of non-existence of SHS at the creation of the district which was eventually absorbed by the government has already pushed students’ population to almost full capacity.
President John Dramani on the day of commissioning directed that all 1400 student be transferred to the new school and the old makeshift used as classrooms be closed. This number implies that by next academic year the maximum student population of 1500 would be achieved.
No doubt the president announced that he has also directed officials at the education ministry to explore ways of creating more space to cater for increased enrolment in the area.
Mr Mahama while commending the students for enduring the challenges of using such dilapidated structure over the years encouraged them to take advantage of the new facility with its enhanced modern practical equipments to improve their results since that is the ultimate goal adding that that can be the only justification for the investment made.
The President also announced his government’s plan to expand the Progressively Free SHS policy, which currently covers day students in selected schools, to boarding students in deprived districts.
According to him, the programme would be launched before the start of the academic year, probably in August or September.
