The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Krachi Nchumuru in the Volta Region, Mr Augustine Appiah said this when leaders of a US based Non Governmental Organization (NGO); “Engineers without Borders” paid a courtesy on him at his office in Chindiri.
The NGO, which intends to work in the district for a period of ten years, is set to partner the assembly in its bid to put up more classroom blocks and provide furniture for deprived schools across the district.
The NGO’s decision to support education in the area comes on the back of grief-stricken documentary aired by Joy News TV, an Accra-based Television station on the poor nature of education infrastructure in the district.
In the documentary, pupils in some basic schools in the district were captured on camera studying in dilapidated structures whiles others were also seen sitting on bare floor or stones to write.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE expressed grief on the falling standard of education in the area but was however, optimistic that recent measures put in place by the government will help improve the situation.
He expressed appreciation to the NGO for their enormous support for education in the country and called on others to emulate the kind gesture.
