KWAHU E: Science education will be my major Priority - DCE

The District Chief Executive of Kwahu East District, Isaac Agyapong and presiding member, Barfuor Yeboah Asuamah I, Manhwere Hene of Kwahu Traditional Council, Last Thursday joined hundreds to celebrate with St Peters SHS after they won this year’s National Science and Math Quiz which was held last Thursday at the National Theatre in Accra.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr Agyapong announced his plans to give priority to science education in his district and said he will soon meet all stakeholders in education to discuss ways of improving math and science education.

The DCE, who was accompanied by Nana Barfuor Yeboah Asuamah I, Manhwere Hene, met the contestants shortly after their victory to congratulate them and commended the two contestants for "lifting the flag of Kwahu high".



The DCE said to Kissi Annoh Kwaku and Fenny Benjamin "You put up your best for Kwahu and we are proud of you. May the good Lord protect you and strengthen you,"

Mr. Issac Agyapong noted that science education is a means to national growth and therefore a comprehensive programme to make math and science a main concern that is in the right direction.



Mr. Agyapong was of the view that successful science and math education at the Senior High School level will contribute extensively to President Akufo-Addo’s “Ghana beyond Aid” policy which is geared towards self-sufficiency in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

St Peter’s Senior High School which is the Nkwatia-based is now three-time champions of the National Science and Maths Quiz after a very tense Grand Finale victory.
