The move forms part of efforts by the assembly to address the furniture deficit in various basic schools across the district.

Speaking in an interview after a handing over ceremony at the Assembly premises, the DCE stated that the donation was a continuation of a similar exercise that was carried out by his office last year.

This, he added, was in fulfillment of his promise to supply furniture to all deprived schools in the district.

He continued that the Assembly is also making provisions to renovate some school buildings as effort is being geared up to enhance teaching and learning.

He was hopeful that the donation would help reduce the furniture deficit in the schools within the district and make the pupils feel more comfortable to enable them focus on their studies.

The DCE also called for proper maintenance culture from management of the beneficiary schools to ensure that the desks last longer.

“They should educate the children to keep them clean and safe at all times so as to serve its intended purpose for long”, he noted.
