Akrofuom MP donates to institutions

The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah has donated some items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to some institutions in the district.

The institutions that benefited from the donations were the Akrofuom health center and some selected basic schools.

The items donated included a delivery bed, pulse oxymeter, oxygen regulator and cylinder, salbutamol nebulizer, automatic blood pressure monitor, weighing scale, and artery forceps.

The rest are thermometers, foetal doppler, autoclave and suturing set for the health institution and some teaching and learning materials for the basic schools.

Presenting the items to the health facility, Hon. Appiah-Pinkrah thanked the health practitioners for their support to humanity and urged them to continue to do their best despite the challenges they face.

He said the issue of health is of very much concern to the government, thus the continuous support of government in that sector.

Hon. Appiah-Pinkrah said he received several requests from the facility and the other 5 CHPS compounds to assist them with some logistics in order to make them save more lives of ailing patients who visit the centre on daily basis.

He added that he will continue to support the health center as plans are being put in place to elevate the facility into a hospital in order to serve the Akrofuom Township and the surrounding villages effectively.

Receiving the items on behalf of the health facility, the caretaker, Madam Anna Nyarko Adjei thanked the MP and DCE for the equipment and assured that the items will be properly taken care of and used judiciously in order to save more lives.

She added that with the centre being the biggest in the district, it receives many cases on daily basis so they have converted the maternity block into a general ward which is also affecting maternity cases. She therefore appealed to the authorities to as a matter of urgency, construct a building facility for that purpose as well as children, males and females ward.

Mad. Adjei again requested for more staff, bemoaning the fact that the facility is really under staff, forcing the few staff there to work beyond their schedule.

She added that the need for an ambulance has also become critical since the facility has now become a referral centre for the 5 other CHPS compound in the district.

The MP was accompanied by the DCE, Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode, District Coordinating Director, Mr. Stephen Asante, staff of the Assembly and some party functionaries.
