Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Antwi Boasiako in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com said their map out strategies for raking in more revenue is yielding result and they are even pushing harder this year.

“In 2017, we were able to exceed even 100 percent; we are improving upon it and this year we are trying our best to double it, and by I know by 2020 it will be even better”

He indicated that “they have realized it is the IGF that will lift the municipality and not the common fund from central government that is actually meant to augment their own revenue, hence their resolve to block revenue leakages and institute more economic ventures that bring revenue to the Assembly.

The MCE disclosed that, aside improving market centres and infrastructure in the markets to meet demands and create congenial business atmosphere, other equally important measures have also been carried out.

The Assembly, the MCE stated, has
• Instituted zonal leaders for revenue collectors to monitor performance
• Mounted 4 barriers for effective revenue collection from the large volumes of Akpeteshie, lumber, palm oil and other resources taken from the municipality
• Established a big market with about 450 market stalls; and replicating such improvements in other markets.

The Assembly is also mapping out buildings in the municipality to aid the collection of property rates, he added.
