MCE distributes oil palm seedlings to farmers
Mr. Thomas Appiah Kubi, Mampong Municipal Assembly has distributed 30,000 oil palm seedlings to farmers for free in light of the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD).

Mr. Appiah Kubi expressed that Mampong has gained the approval in the one-district-one-factory plan on oil palm and has therefore made plans to cultivate 500 acres of oil palm plantation with the farmers. This will help to get raw materials to feed the factory and also export some to outside Ghana to generate revenue for the government and the people.
The Mampong Municipal Assembly has already distribute Cocoa seedlings and Cashew seedlings for free of charge in the month of May.
Nana Oduro Boahen, Yonsohene who chaired the program also expressed his gratitude NPP government for their support to farmers.
According to him, this will provide job opportunities for the youth and thereby curb rural-urban migration. He also entreats the youth to participate in this program to provide food and money for themselves.
Nana Oduro also advised Agric extension officers to monitor the activities of farmers on this project (Planting for Export and Rural Development) to help eradicate poverty in the rural areas.
The lunch of oil palm was held at Yonso in the Municipality. Assembly members, Nananom, Agric officers, Farmers were there to graced the occasion.
