Minister distributes LPG stove to residents

The Deputy Minister of Energy (MP) Mr. William Owuraku Aidoo has announced that the Government has initiated a new national level aimed at making 50 percent of Ghanaian population gain access to the usage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by the year 2030.

The Minister at the inauguration of the National LPG Promotion (NLPGPP) at the Afigya Kwabre South District stated that, the set goal is to ensure that access to LPG is cleaner, safe and healthier fuel to improve the health and lives of people, protect the environment and create jobs.

Mr. Owuraku Aidoo also said the LPG also phases out or reduces to the barest minimum the use of charcoal and fires as obtained in the advanced countries. He distributed 2000 LPG stoves to some residents in the area.


The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area Mr. Adu Poku Christian lauded the government initiative and pledged that the Assembly would ensure the distribution of the LPG to serve its purpose.


He also stated that the promotion exercise would help protect the environment and reduce the havoc of massive floods and extensive heat caused by environmental degradation.


The Director of promotion of Energy, Ali Nuhu Abeka also pointed out the mapped-up strategies, which included subsidies, facilitation and support to provide incentives for local manufacturers of LPG, Cylinders, cook stoves and accessories.
