For the past three years in Gushegu district in the Northern region, as many as 15 communities have duly benefited from clean water facilities meant to boost efforts in the water system of the area, District Chief Executive of the Assembly, Fuseini Alhassan revealed.

Highlighting this development in an interview, the DCE briefed Ghanadistricts.com that there were frantic efforts by the Assembly and its development partners to scale up the number of communities that enjoy clean water system in the area.

He hinted that recently a collaborative effort of New Energy, a local NGO and Water Aid Ghana saw the provision of mechanized boreholes that were facilitated under the Small Town Water System(STWS) for Yiborigu and Zamanshegu, both communities under the district.

He said in line with moves by government to improve access to clean and safe drinking water in the area, the Ghana Water and Sanitation Agency(GWSA) is also embarking on the drilling of 10 additional boreholes to help open up the water system for the district.

At least five communities are said to be involved in this project, and each community is earmarked to receive two boreholes in their respective environs.

Beneficiary communities included Nayilifon, Yisheilanyili, Lalgu, Kunaayili and Nyensung.
