The Larbikrom D/A Junior High School in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region, has called for an immediate support from the government to save the school from its current predicaments.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Patrick A. Cobbah, who made the call at the 45th Anniversary and speech and prize giving day celebration of the school on the theme: “Quality Education in a Serene Environment- A Pre-requisite For Better Future and Sustainable Development’’, said although the school since its inception some 45yaers ago had chalked many successes and produced great men and women in the country, it had not seen any infrastructural development, making teaching and learning a challenge to both the teachers and students.

Mr. Cobbah bemoaned the current situation where students had to study in an abandoned structure bestowed to them by the Presbyterian School was not the best and therefore called on the government to provide the school with classroom blocks and ICT centre to help promote quality education in the area.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Godwin Addo admonished parents to provide the right environment for the physical, moral and academic development of their wards since according to him; parents are the first teachers of the child. "You parents are the first teachers of the child, the child emulates both the good and bad habit existing in the home’’ he added. He said parents must be committed to setting good examples for their children to emulate in order to produce responsible leaders who will be capable of handling their future and for that matter that of the country at large.

According to Mr. Addo, the country’s quest for quality education could not be achieved without disciplined and committed teachers, and therefore urged the teachers to be seen as a sign-post directing the path to quality education in the country.

The District Chief Executive for Kwaebibirem Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Aboagye Osae, in an address, reiterated that the government was still committed to providing more infrastructure and logistics like classroom block, supply of free exercise and text books, distribution of laptops and desk to promote quality education in the country. He said the assembly will continue to collaborate with educational institutions in the district in imparting knowledge to the people and announced that a detailed report on the infrastructural deficit in the school had been submitted to the Ministry of Education for consideration under the GETFund projects.

Mr. Osae, urged the students to take their academic work seriously and shy away from immoral acts that has the potential of ruining their future.
