The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Cape Coast, Ms Priscilla Arhin has admonished that Ghanaians should adopt the sense of attitudinal change as means of ensuring development in their respective communities.

“We need to educate ourselves on attitudinal change to progress in our individual lives; the white man should not always tell us what to do” she said.

She noted that many communities are still lagging behind as results of deviant act from some residents within same communities, insisting that such acts must not be overlooked but rather should be condemned by other residents in the area.

The MCE made this statement when delivering a speech at the just ended Ghana-Netherland Water and Sanitation Programme (GNWP) in Accra, a programme which focuses on proper management water, sanitation, hygiene and also tries to interpret sanitation in a broad sense to include solid waste, liquid waste and drainage.

Ghana and the Netherlands have been longstanding partners in particularly the water sector which have seen the Netherlands invested and supported the construction of several drinking water infrastructure projects, including Barekese near Kumasi, Tamale in the North and in the Accra – Tema conglomeration over the decades.

Meanwhile, Ms Pricilla Arhin asserted that even though the metropolis is already benefiting from the programme, more was expected from the Netherland government to improve on its poor sanitation condition.

She said the assembly currently needs about GHs 92,000:00 to manage its current sanitation issues, adding that the assembly could not raise such amount except with support from other donors.

The MCE commended the Netherland government for its relentless effort in resolving sanitation conditions in the area.
