Brahabebome community last Monday 9th September, experienced yet another ceremonial event in the history of the community as they witnessed the enstoolment and the swearing in of Nana Agyin Serebour as Odikro and Nana Pomaa II as obaapanin in Brahabebome, a suburb of Obuasi Adansi in the Ashanti Region.

Tradition was at its best during this august occasion, as both Odikro and Obaapanin were adorned in beautiful traditional cloth.

As culture demands, during the enstoolment of a chief/king/odikro/queen in the akan land, the black cloth is worn as a sign of seriousness to enter into a new era of life.

On the first day of enstoolemt, both Nana Agyin Siribour and Obaapanin Pomaa II were officially introduced to the Brahabebome community as the new leaders of the community.

Having accepted to be leaders of the community, the odikro and Obaapanin in their white cloth signifying victory and peace sworn an oath of allegiance the next day to Nananom of Akrokerri, as a way of pledging to the people of Brahabebome to be good leaders to the people of Brahabebome.

Soon after the swearing in of Nana Agyin Siribour and Obaapanin Pomaa II, there was display of tradition and culture at its best.

Nana Kwadwo Amponsem, linguist of Akrokerri Palace, charged the newly sworn Odikro and Obaapanin to hold in high esteem the traditions and customs of the people and also pay heed to the advice of their elders.

He said: “You are now new. You have been lifted to another stage in life and you must live as such. You are now leaders of your land and I pray you lead your people with respect, humility, truthfulness, honesty and above all a godly heart, because it is by the grace and will of the Almighty God that has brought you this far”.

He continued that, as leaders, they are supposed to be hard working to boost the socio economic growth development of the people in the area.

Both Nana Agin Siribour and Obaapanin Pomaa II assured Nana Kwadwo Amponsem and all present of their diligence to bring unity and peace in the area, adding that, they will do their best to develop Brahabebome.

Nana Agyin Seribour succeeded Nana Ankoma Ababio  who joined his ancestors in 2012. Nana Pomaa II, Obaapanin of the community, privately known as Madam Afua Nkrumah and Nana Agin Siribour  are both siblings.
