Residents of Anyaano Electoral area in the Ahanta West District in the Western Region have appealed to the Ahanta West District Assembly to come to their aid by constructing a teachers’ bungalow in Amokan.

According to them, the absence of accommodation facility for teachers posted to the area has resulted in a situation where teachers posted to the area have refused posting and in the event denying the students of the tuition they require.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, the Assembly man for Anyaano, Hon. Kwame Esson stated that apart from the above mentioned problem that the absence of teachers accommodation creates, there continues to be instances where some teachers who are fortunate enough to be accommodated by individuals in the area end up impregnating young girls of their benefactors.

He bemoaned that practice since in some cases, the education of the young girls are cut short due to the pregnancy that occurs.

Hon. Kwame Esson therefore issued an SOS call on the Assembly to address the worrying issue by providing them with adequate accommodation for teachers.
