Information communication Technology (ICT) since its inception many years ago has become the back bone for most companies, organizations, institutions and the world at large.

It is on the backdrop of this that a two-day ICT training workshop has been held for wood workers at Akyawkrom in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

Sixty members of the Ghana Timber Millers Organization (GTMO), Ghana Timber Association (GTA) and the Furniture and Wood Workers of Ghana (FAWAG), drawn from Ashanti, Western, Eastern and Brong-Ahafo Regions are attended the workshop.

The training was jointly organized by the Kumasi Wood Cluster (KWC) and the Wood Industries Training Centre (WITC) with funding from the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).

Mrs Esi Banful, General Manager of the KWC, said the goal of the workshop was to help keep the workers abreast with the current trends in the wood industry.

Mr. Kwasi Lumor, WITC’s Head of Training, for his part explained the need to constantly equip wood workers with modern technology to enable them to add value to themselves and their products.
