Mr. Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister has urged the people of the Upper West Akim District, one of the newly created districts to use the opportunity to ensure accelerated development of the various communities.

The minister indicated that the main idea behind the creation of the
district is to enable more communities to benefit from development
projects especially improvement in social and economic infrastructure.

This, he noted, will help government achieve its quest to reducing poverty in the country.

The minister gave the advice when he inspected the office accommodation of the Upper West Akim District at Adeiso, the district capital.

He called on the workers to cooperate effectively with their leaders, mindful of the significant role they have to play to ensure the new
district stands. He called on them to eschew parochial interests and work for the progress of the larger society.

Earlier, the minster paid a courtesy call on Osabarima Asare Oduro I,
chief of Adeisoat his palace.

Osabarima Asare Oduro I commended government for the consideration given them and pledged the commitment of the traditional authority to rally behind the assembly to bring the expected development.

He said their major challenge has to do with their roads which are in
diplorable state, but added that they are convinced the same concern
shown to them will again be extended to them at the appropriate time.
