Juaben Municipal Assembly holds 1st Ordinary Meeting

The Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region has held its first ordinary meeting of the 2nd session of the Assembly at the Assembly's Conference Hall last Thursday.

Speaking at the programme, Hon. Ansah-Sem the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Juaben Municipal Assembly tasked the Assembly Members and the citizenry to support the Assembly's effort in raising its internally generated funds to address the challenges confronting the various communities within the Municipality.

He said, the Assembly had performed well in its internal revenue mobilization with the help of Nations Builder's Corps (NABCO) personnel to augment the revenue staff strength and various training workshops for the revenue collectors since its inauguration.

According to him, a total amount of One Hundred and Twenty Three Thousand Ghana cedis (123,000), was realized as of March, 2019. Out of the estimated revenue of Three Hundred and Eighty One Thousand Ghana cedis (381,000), for the year 2019.

This represents (32%) achievement of the target set for the year.



On District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), He said, the Assembly received an amount of Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Ghana cedis (3,097.000) from the central government as its first quarter share of the District Assemblies Common Fund for the 2019.

While One Hundred and Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (170,000) was also received as District Development Fund (DDF).
According to him, with this financial support the Assembly has embarked on several development projects since its inception notably, reshaping of Juaben-Dumakwai road (5.5km), on-going reconstruction of Juaben, the Municipal capital town roads, rehabilitation of Juaben Urban Council Building to provide office space for Education Service and Environmental Health Department, evacuation and clearing of refuse sites at Juaben, construction of 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities each at Juaben Model School, Akronwi Primary School and Juaben SDA Primary School respectively.

The rest are, construction of girls dormitory at both Juaben Senior High School and St' Sebastian Senior High School at Adumasa, rehabilitation of Bomfa Area Council building and Boamadumase market as well.



The MCE in his key note address commanded the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led administration for prudent policies and introduction of the numerous flagship programmes and initiatives geared towards creating Jobs and improving livelihood of Ghanaians such as One - District, One Factory(1D1F), Nations Builder's Corps (NABCO), Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Planting for Food and Jobs Programme (PfFJs), Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), School Feeding Programme, Free SHS and double track system among others.

On the Persons with Disability (PWD) Fund, the MCE indicated that, a total number of five hundred and two (502) persons with physical challenges, both deaf and blind in the nineteenth (19) communities within the Juaben Municipality have been registered under the people with disability scheme (PWD). This will provide them with accurate data information to ensure easy identification for payment.

He also revealed that, over twenty four (24) schools in his jurisdiction have been rolled onto the school feeding programme with 7,316 pupils benefited, 3, 760 are male and 3,556 female.

In attendance were, the Presiding Member for the Assembly, Assembly Members, Heads of Department, Representatives from (KNUST) Kuamsi, District Police Commander respectively.
