Twenty-one PWDs in Juaben Municipality get support

Twenty-One Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region have received support from the Assembly to enhance their well-being.

The beneficiaries PWDs comprises of physically challenged, visually impaired as well as intellectually disabled received various items including; deep freezers, fufuo pounding machines and filing machines.

The rest were 5 bags of rice, slippers, 20 bags of charcoal, knitting machines, cocoa spraying machines, 75 pieces of palm seedlings, 10 bags of fertilizer and financial support of education to enhance their income-generating activities.

This was the tenth disbursement from the District Assemblies Common Fund to support Persons with Disability (PWDs) within the Municipality, since the inception of the Juaben Assembly.

Speaking at a short ceremony to present the items to the PWDs the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben, Mr. Omane Aboagye, urged the beneficiaries not to always rely on other people for their survival since "disability is not inability".

He encouraged them to be self-confidence and believe in themselves that they are equally capable of achieving their aims in life without begging for arms on the streets. He stressed.

The MCE reaffirmed that one of the most important responsibilities of government was the provision of social intervention programmes and projects that enhanced the lives of the needy and vulnerable in the society.

This, he said would go a long way to alleviate the suffering such vulnerable people endure and lessen the burden on their immediate families.

Madam Esther Enyonam, the head of Social Development Department also admonished the beneficiaries to make good use of the items so as to achieve it's purpose of delivery.

She warned the beneficiaries against the attitude of selling the items for money, since all the items donated have been embossed with special identification.

The Social Services Convenor PWDs, Mr. Drako Boateng on his part commended the government for such initiative that geared towards the well-being of the PWDs and advised his colleagues to maintain the items given them.

Mr. Kwabena Seidu, who could not hide his joy over this support thanked the government as well the Assembly on behalf of the beneficiaries within the Municipality.
