Newmont supports OLA Girls Senior High School

Newmont Africa’s Project Control team has donated 200 classroom tables, 200 chairs, and 50 dining hall benches worth GHS90, 000 to the Ola Girls Senior High School in Kenyasi II, from the generous contributions of our employees and business partners.

Ola Girls Senior High School in Kenyasi II, the only girls’ senior high school inthe Ahafo Region, had a major challenge with classroom and dining hall furniture.

This resulted in students using broken plastic chairs, multiple students sharing,and others standing to eat in the dining hall. This affected the quality of the general learning experience of the girls.

Our Project Controls team after observing the situation at Ola Senior High School and other needs in our host communities, decided to embark on two charity projects in Ahafo the construction of a child welfare clinic for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem, and the provision of classroom and lunchroom furniture to the Ola Girls Senior High School in Kenyasi II.

Meanwhile, the St. Elizabeth Hospital project is still ongoing. ‘’We believe that this support will go a long way to assist the school and help enhance the learning experience for the girls.’’
