Mampong Abrerese D/A wins 'Learn to Read, Read to Learn' context

12 circuits made up of 52 schools, gathered at the Nyinahin D/A Basic school park to exhibit their prowess in USAID sponsored program dubbed ‘Learn to Read; Read to Learn’ context.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Miss Adwubi Amma Asafu-Adjaye, the District Education Director congratulated the contestants for representing their schools, which is a morale booster for their contemporaries. She noted that, the success of every kid, depends on how motivated they are to study at the early stages. She adviced parents to play a watchdog role over their kids/ wards and instill reading in them rather than allowing them to stay long hours to watch telenovelas which has bad impact on their education.


Nana Yaw Barima Osiaban, who represented Nana Amanpene Boateng II, Nyinahinhene ad the chairman for the day advised parents to buy reading books for their wards; which he believes is the sure way to getting them at the top echelon in life. He expressed worry about the Library block which has been converted into office block for the use of the education service for many years and pleaded with the District Chief Executive to fastrack the completion of the newly built Assembly block for the library to be put into its intended purpose.



Mr. Stephen Kwaku Adzorvie, the librarian at the Education office edged schools to form reading clubs to enhance the skills of the students.


The representative of the DCE Mr. William Boateng, noted that, the Assembly has its chunk of common fund and other state interventions going into education. He reiterated calls of the earlier speakers for parents to make the education of their wards a priority. He embraced the program and asked the directorate to champion more of such educative endeavors which will put the district in the lime-light and also be a motivation factor for the kids.


At the end of the contest Bismark Anaaba of Mampong Abebrese made his school proud, coming out as the winning school for the context. Kyerayaaso Presby, Mantukwa and Kantinkyire D/A came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively to represent the district at the regional level.

The education directorate gave prizes to the schools which included, but not limited to school bags, books, pens and school uniforms.
