Mastercard foundation gifts Mampong Abrebrese classroom blocks

A colorful ceremony graced by Nana Antwi Boasiako III, the Mampong Abebrese Dikro, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, the DCE, Miss Ama Adwubi Asafu-Adjaye Adjei, the District Education Director for Atwima Mponua, and Prof Williams Otuo Ellis, former Vice Chancellor of KNUST, who officially commissioned the educational facilities on the 28th of September, 2023.

The project consisted of a newly constructed 4-unit classroom block, a refurbished 5-unit Junior High School with offices, and a motorized borehole in Mampong Abebrese, all intended to enhance the quality of education in the area. This remarkable project was generously funded by the MasterCard Foundation.

The initiative was sparked by the exceptional achievement of young Obed Awuku from Mampong Abebrese D/A primary who brought honor to Atwima Mponua by winning a silver medal in the National reading festival 2022.

Professor Ellis Otoo noted that, the accomplishment underscored the potential that lies within the youth of Mampong Abebrese, further motivated the need for improved educational facilities. He called on others to emulate Awuku and his colleagues who has brightened the corners of Mampong Abebrese.

A special mention went to Hon.Isaac Kwame Asiamah-MP who contributed significantly by providing dual desks for the classrooms, adding a level of comfort for the students;
Prof. Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson Vice Chancellor, KNUST; a hearty appreciation to Miss Ama Adwubi whose tireless efforts led to the securing of this project. Lastly to the Nananom and people of Mampong Abebrese for their support.

Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo commended MasterCard scholars from KNUST for such a novelty and giving a breathing space to the District Assembly. “Your contributions further highlight the importance of quality education and its potential to uplift communities which Mponua is a beneficiary”. He called on parents in the catchment area to make good of the facility and urged them to encourage their kids to study and become great personalities in the future. “The inauguration of these facilities marks a significant stride towards improving education in Mampong Abebrese and Atwima Mponua as a whole”, he added.

Also in attendance were; Prof Owusu Berko, Project lead, Mr Justine Kwasi Gbortor, Ahafo Ano South West Education director who doubled asAshanti regional Education director rep, Nkawiehene rep Nana Agyei and some MasterCard scholars from KNUST.
