Gyamfikrom gets new CHPS compound

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has commissioned a Community – Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Gyamfikrom, Asokore.

The CHPS compound is to provide first aid medical health care to the people in the Gyamfikrom community as well as surrounding areas.

The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben North Municipal Assembly in her address said it is quite worrying that people would have to travel long distances especially from the rural to urban areas before they can access healthcare and with the existence of a Community – Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, at least, first aid can be administered before patients are referred to bigger health facilities should the need arise.

Madam Comfort Asante stated “The commissioning of this new Community – Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound is yet another milestone since the establishment of this Assembly and she is confident that the new facility will radically improve service delivery and infrastructure for the whole community in years to come”.

She urged the Community Health Nurses and Midwives within the zone to do their routine home visits and outreaches to improve the health situations in Gyamfikrom and its environs.

The New Juaben Municipal Health Director, Dr. Edmond Ekow Keitu said the government has done its part in providing a health centre for the people in the community and hoped the people in the community will give their maximum cooperation for the centre to function effectively and serve their health needs.

He also stated the Health Service has set up a Community Health Committee Members who will be in charge of the building an also help to address the needs of the workers at the Community – Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) centre.
