New Juaben North National Sanitation Day at Oyoko

The fourth edition of the monthly Sanitation day Exercise in the Municipality came off on the 4th of October, 2025 in the New Juaben North Municipality.

The exercise was led by the New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo, with support from the Chief of Oyoko,Nana Osei-Bonsu Sempe II,Security personnels,Zoom lion, NADMO Officers, Assembly Staff ,Assembly members and some community members of the Oyoko township.

The Exercise saw the sweeping of the streets, weeding of bushy areas and dredging of choked gutters from the Oyoko round about through the Township.

In an address,the MCE explained that his priority is to make sure that the sanitation law is enforced to curb the issue of poor hygiene in the various communities.

He stressed that the establishment of the sanitation taskforce will check those who refuse to show up and participate in the sanitation exercise despite several Public announcements by the Information Services Department and the various Information Centres in the communities ahead of the exercise.

The Adontenhene for New Juaben Traditional area and the Chief of Oyoko, Nana Osei -Bonsu Sempe II ,asked the Assembly to enforce its sanitation bylaws to ensure that the Citizery adhere to the directive.

Nana Osei-Bonsu Sempe II, encouraged the Environmental Health Officers to prosecute those who do not keep their environments clean.

“Shop owners must clean their premises during cleanup exercises. A court summons be served to all absentees”, he added.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Daniel Kwaku Darku, reiterated that the Assembly has done enough awareness creation and education on cleanliness and are ready to hold people accountable for their actions.

At the end of the exercise, fifteen (15 ) people were fined two hundred Ghana cedis (GH?200) each for various offences.
