The World Toilet Day (WTD) is an official United Nations international observance day which is celebrated annually on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and help achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which promises proper sanitation for all by 2030.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Kingsley Osei explained the importance of celebrating the World Toilet Day, as it is a platform to get people informed about the benefits of good hygiene and the dangers involved when it is ignored as it does not only affect human health but also education, finance, environment and many more.

“Access to proper sanitation is a human right and the health of people depends on a healthy environment.”he said.

He also asked residents to stop the practice of open defecation as it is against the law which would lead to prosecution when caught in the act and encouraged them to take due advantage of the measures in place by the Government to help provide Toilet for each Household.
