He stated that as at June 30, 2017, the actual Internally Generated Fund (IGF) generated by the Assembly stood at two-hundred and eighty-four thousand, seven-hundred and twenty-four Ghana Cedis, fourteen pesewas (GHs 248,724.14) representing 50.5% of the annual estimated revenue of five-hundred and sixty-three thousand, six-hundred and seventy six Ghana cedis (GHs 563,676.00).

According to him, the success was due to efforts made in blocking factors that were inhibiting the Assembly’s efficient revenue generation. Among them include:
a.    Lack of supervision of revenue collectors
b.    Lack of commitment on the part of the Revenue Collectors
c.    Non operationalization/ nonfunctioning of the lower structures such as Urban/ Town/ Area Councils and Unit Committees
d.    Rate/ Tax evasion and Revenue Leakages
e.    No targets for Revenue Collectors.

In view of this, he disclosed that some strategies have been outlined for implementation that are geared towards the maximization of revenue. These include:
1.    Public education through public functions and other fora
2.    Setting of weekly/ monthly targets to Revenue Collectors
3.    Night Revenue Collection
4.    Prosecution of Rate defaulters
5.    Valuation of Properties
6.    Special Incentive package to collectors who will excel.

He has therefore called for the collective involvement of all stakeholders especially those who will be tasked to perform certain roles towards the attainment of this objective.
