POLITICS: Last batch of MMDCEs under current system if….
The President Nana Akufo Addo has sent signal that this batch of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will be the last batch to take office under the current system.

According to him, if constitutional proposals for reforms are accepted and passed then the process of getting MMDCEs would change.
“We have to expand full democracy to local government”, he stated.
The president who made the revelation during an encounter with the media also used the opportunity to commend the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies for the vote of confidence reposed in his appointees and expressed hope that they will intern work harmoniously with their assemblies.
The President during the 2016 campaign promised to ensure MMDCEs are elected by people in their assemblies, a departure from the current system where the MMDCEs are nominated by the president and are endored by two-third majority of assembly members.
