He said this when he addressed the people at the 2017 Farmers Day celebration at Adansi Akrofuom.

He specifically mentioned that the government has undertaken planting for food and jobs through fertilizer subsidy, supply of improved seeds, sustainable rain-fed lowland rice production and extensive Extension services to the farmers in the district.
Hon. Francis K. Ankomah said that a total of 482 farmers were given farm inputs such as subsidized fertilizers, improved seeds, extension services under the Planting for food and jobs in the district. A total of 893 acres of rice and maize was cultivated during the major season of the year and 7 Extension Officers were posted to the district to help the farmers.
"The government of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is poised to make agriculture attractive to the youth hence the introduction of interventions such as the one district; one factory and the one district one warehouse; these two interventions will reduce the post-harvest losses and give good prices for the farm products to the farmers and increase their income. It is now lucrative to venture into agriculture since the era of post-harvest losses is now over. He concluded. He called on the Chief to make available land for farming activities and the construction of other facilities when the time comes.
The District Assembly will play its major role of supporting farmers in their activities by seeing to it that all the necessary farm inputs needed are available for you the DCE said.
It is the vision of the Assembly to make agriculture the major profession in the district that is why this year a Motor Bike and items such as LED TVs were used as part of the Awards; we want to make agriculture attractive to the youth in the district.
