Nii Kortey Boi, who was a former PM for Ga West Municipal Assembly at Amasaman, had eight votes while the other contender, Mr Richard Osei, Assemblyman for Nii Ankraman/Alhaji, had six votes.

He was sworn into office by Madam Patricia Quansah, a Circuit Court Judge of the Amasaman Municipality.

Nii Kortey Boi, in an address, pledged to work hard with the support of the Assembly members to develop the area.

Mr Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, urged the Assembly members and staff to unite and
support the Presiding Member to develop the Municipality as the Assembly would have total control over funds from the Government.

He appealed to the Government to appointment a municipal chief executive (MCE) for the Assembly to facilitate development
programmes of the area.

Mrs Moira Nancy Ewa, the Municipal Coordinating Director, and Acting MCE of Ga North Assembly, expressed happiness for the election of Nii Kortey Boi as the Presiding Member.

She said Nii Kortey Boi, the Chief of Ofankor, was releasing land for development purposes even when he was not a PM, and expressed the hope he would do more for the progress of the Municipality in his new position.

Mrs Ewa called on other chiefs to emulate the example of the new PM for the development of the area.
