Pusiga Assembly to empower people with disabilities

The assembly is to support vulnerable groups, 30 students with disabilities, identify 45 youth with disabilities and give them vocational training skills. It would also monitor the activities of pupils with disabilities.
Mr Alhassan Abugbillah, District Chief Executive (DCE), made this known during the 2015 composite annual action plan and the supplementary budget of the third ordinary meeting of the assembly at Pusiga.
Mr Abugbillah said there are plans to support teacher trainees, sensitise community members about girl- child education and provide scholarship package for girl’s education in the district in the supplementary budget.
He said the assembly is improving on the road network that would link up communities for the promotion of socio-economic activities in the area.
Mr Abugbillah indicated that the assembly had constructed a number of health facilities, provided quality water system and educational infrastructure for the people.
He said government is making great efforts to prevent diseases such as Ebola and cholera and the assembly, has embarked on public education and
providing equipment for health personnel to facilitate the process.
The DCE said the assembly was able to generate about GH167,000.00 from January to September, while efforts are being put in place to generate the targeted revenue for development.
He called on stakeholders to see the development of the district as paramount and contribute towards it.
The Presiding Member for the Assembly Mr Atia Abduliah Awini, urged members to be committed to issues that would develop the area and avoid discriminative attitudes that would bring division to the house.
Mr Awini said members who work along party lines would bring about division which would retard the development process of the assembly.
