ATWIMA K: Assembly supports 650 PWDs with food items
Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly in Ashanti Region supported 650 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs in the district with assorted food items during the covid-19 locked down to improve their living conditions from the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).

The food items which included rice, sardines, oil, 1000 crates of eggs tomato pastes and other items worth GHC 65,000.00 (Sixty-Five thousand Ghana Cedis) were handed over to the beneficiaries through the Social Service Convener and District Social Service Officer to cushion the hardship of the covid-19 pandemic at Twedie.
The District Assemblies Common Fund, DACF is basically a Development Fund designed to ensure a more equitable distribution of national resources for development in every part of the country.
The Fund is used to support a wide range of projects and programmes geared towards improving the lives of the people at the local level.
Addressing the media and the public, Nana Okyere Tawiah-Antwi, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma highlighted the government’s commitment in the development of human resource hence the increment of 2% to 3% of DACF allocated to persons with disabilities in the country to prevent them from moving to the streets to be a burden to the country.
Nana Antwi noted that the government provided food both cooked and uncooked through the churches and NADMO for the vulnerable people in this covid-19 locked down of which the district has its share of the national cake.
The DCE has also appealed to philanthropists and religious institutions to support the vulnerable, especially during this pandemic era.
