At a confirmation ceremony held on Friday, May 16, at the Assembly’s conference hall in Twedie, the district capital, Mrs. Agyemang secured a 100 percent endorsement, receiving all 47 “Yes” votes from the 47 ballots cast.

The confirmation process was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission at both the regional and district levels. Security was also tightened for the ceremony, with personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service deployed to maintain peace and order.

The announcement of her confirmation was met with jubilation, as supporters of both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) joined other stakeholders and dignitaries to celebrate the outcome.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Agyemang expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating her and thanked the Assembly Members and government appointees for their overwhelming confidence in her leadership.

“I am truly honoured to serve the people of Atwima Kwanwoma. I accept this responsibility with a clear conscience and open heart, bearing no grudges. I promise an inclusive administration that welcomes constructive input from all.”

Mrs. Agyemang, who is also the Chief Internal Auditor at the Ghana Education Service (GES), outlined infrastructure development, education and youth empowerment as some of her key priorities.

She called for unity and cooperation among residents and political actors, stressing that meaningful development could only be achieved through collective effort.

The new DCE also pledged to pursue efforts to upgrade Atwima Kwanwoma from district to municipal status, and expressed her readiness to collaborate with the Member of Parliament for the area, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, to achieve the objective.

Mr. Amankwa-Manu, who attended the ceremony, congratulated the Assembly Members for the unanimous endorsement and assured residents of his willingness to work with the new DCE despite their political differences.

He said collaboration between political leaders and other stakeholders would be essential to advancing the development of the constituency and improving the lives of residents.

Mrs. Agyemang’s unanimous confirmation marks a significant milestone for Atwima Kwanwoma, particularly in promoting women’s participation in local governance and leadership.
