Tano S. launches Workplace Experience Learning (WEL) and Job Placement Initiative for TVET students

The Tano South Municipal Assembly in partnership with KEDA Ghana Ceramics Company Limited has launched the Workplace Experience Learning (WEL) and Job Placement Initiative for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in the municipality.

This initiative aims to provide over thousand and eighty-three (1,083) final year students with a hands-on practical exposure, real-time feedback, and professional culture orientation, effectively bridging the gap between academic learning and industry employment.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including The MCE Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, Mr. Emmanuel Asibey the Human Resource Manager of KEDA Ghana Ceramics Company Ltd, the Regional Director for TVET, Teachers as well as Students from Bechem Business Collage, Bechem School for the Deaf, Bechem Technical Institute and TSC Technical Institute.

Giving his keynote address Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the MCE for Tano South Municipality, expressed gratitude to the President H.E John Dramni Mahama for his innovative initiatives targeted at improving education.

He further thanked the Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner, for her relentless effort in securing a life-changing partnership with a reputable company dedicated to empowering the youth and emphasized the importance of Workplace Experience Learning (WEL) in today’s skill- driven economy, where industries demand practical skills and application.

Hon. Frimpong highlighted the significance of the initiative for the Tano South Municipality, where there is a growing number of skilled but underutilized youth.

He called on stakeholders, including industry partners, local businesses, and community groups, to support the program and ensure its success.

He also emphasized the need to shift societal mindsets to celebrate TVET students as nation builders and to advocate for inclusivity, ensuring that all eligible students, including young women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups, benefit from the program.

In conclusion, the MCE pledged his full support for the initiative and encouraged TVET students to take the opportunity seriously, showing commitment, humility, and a hunger to learn.

He expressed hope that the initiative would grow from strength to strength and become a model of youth empowerment and technical excellence for the rest of Ghana to follow.

The Human Resource Manager of Keda Ghana Ceramics Company Ltd, Mr. Emmanuel Asibey, in his address, extended a warm appreciation to the Regional Minister for her tireless efforts in driving forward the Youth Employment agenda of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, demonstrating her commitment to the youth's development.

The Human Resource Manager of Keda Ghana Ceramics Company Ltd, Mr. Emmanuel Asibey educating the students Mr. Asibey provided an overview of the company's operations, highlighting its innovative approaches in ceramic production and elaborated on the vast opportunities available to students, including skill development and career advancement.

A visual presentation followed, showcasing the company’s sate of the art facilities and diverse activities, giving the students a glimpse into the ceramics manufacturing industry.

In a special vote of thanks, Mrs. Linda Acheampong, a teacher at Bechem Business School expressed her profound appreciation to the Regional Minister, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for their efforts in ensuring inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in this remarkable initiative.

She urged the students to utilize this opportunity to build their future, stressing the importance of hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude towards work when given the chance.

Mrs. Acheampong encouraged the students to seize every opportunity to develop their skills, and become valuable contributors to society, thereby promoting a brighter future for themselves and their community.
