A key milestone underway is converting a Kenyasi health centre into a full-fledged District Hospital, signaling a bold stride toward improved and accessible health for all residents,
The snapshot of health infrastructure of the Asutifi North District comprises of 15 health facilities serving the district made up of 3 public centers, 5 CHPS compounds (community-based primary care), 5 private clinics, 1 private maternity home and 1 private hospital.
Services offered and the ongoing developments includes clinical care, reproductive and child health, nutrition, health promotion across facilities and project to transform the Kenyasi health centre into a District Hospital, expanding capacity and services respectively.
To the community this represents better access and equity since more robust health infrastructure aiming to shorten wait times, improving emergency response, and expanding access in both urban and rural communities.
Expanded facilities and a potential district hospital can boost prenatal, delivery, postnatal care, and pediatric services which is a plus to maternal and child health in general.
Health investments create jobs, strengthen supply chains for medicines and equipment, and enhance overall district resilience to health shocks leading improved resilience in the local economy.
While progress is evident, there may be ongoing needs in staffing, equipment, and facility maintenance to sustain quality care due to resource gaps which may need to align staffing, training, and community health programs for comprehensive care.
