West Gonja Assembly Elects a Presiding Member
17 assembly members made up of 12 Elected and 5 Government Appointees were duly inaugurated on 23rd January 2020 in Damongo, the Savannah Regional Capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Saeed Muhazu Jibree congratulated the assembly members on their appointment into the August House. He continued by urging them to bring forth the experience and expertise to create a positive and energetic environment to fast track development in the district.
He reminded them the need to place much premium on matters of the Assembly first before personal interest.
According to the DCE, the Assembly is one with many challenges that are being managed but still needs that positive energy to thrive.
He further appealed to the Honorable members to deliberate much on Matters of Assembly to achieve the needed development for the District.
A former headmaster for the Bole Senior High School Mr K.K Ntobah who chaired the inaugural ceremony charged the members to work in unity to enhance development in the district.
His Lordship Justice Francis Asobayire from the Judiciary Service of Ghana sworn all the members in.
Mohammed Mumuni, Assembly man for Apilso Electoral Area was elected as the Presiding Member.
The ceremony ended up with a successful election of a Presiding Member who pulled 14 votes out of the total votes cast representing 78 percent. Hon. Mohammed Mumuni contested with Hon Ananpansah B. Abraham who had 4 votes representing 22 percent. 18 members including the DCE cast their ballot.
